  • Outcome of Apprenticeship non-levy procurement
Calling all AELP full members: When you find out what contract you have been awarded for delivering apprenticeships for non-levy employers, please email with the answers to the following: 1. What did you deliver last year? 2. On a like-for-like comparison (i.e. in terms of delivery to non-levied employers) what did you bid for? 3. And what allocation did you actually receive?
  • Next steps for IoTs
The government will shortly be launching a call for proposals to establish Institutes of Technology (IoTs). Applicants will be able to bid into a £170m fund to establish institutions which specialise in delivering the higher level technical skills that employers needs in areas with evidence of a higher level skills gap and clear learner demand. The detailed offer will vary from area to area but is expected to be based around the following: • boosting provision at Levels 4 and 5 in STEM subjects; • developing a strong pipeline of provision at Level 3 either as part of the IoT offer or with clear pathways of progression to the IoT’s level 4/5 provision; • up-skilling or re-skilling the existing workforce, to keep pace with rapid technological change; and • using innovative modes of delivery. Partnerships in these ventures are being encouraged, particularly where they can build upon existing technical education provision and leverage assets to secure the step change which is required. Consultations on the proposals are continuing prior to a call in the Spring, but some details have now been made available and can be accessed on our website here. Interested parties can register their interest now with the IoT team at DfE at
